Today we
are going to talk about other modalities in “Pelota Valenciana”. How we said in
the first post, in “Pelota Valenciana” there are many modalities how “escala i
corda, ratlles, galotxes, galotxetes, a paret, rebotet i llonges”. In this
case, we are going to talk about the modality of “escala i corda”.
The
modality of “escala i corda” was born in 1910 thanks to “Nel de Murla” which delete
the modality of “Ratlles” and added a net that separated the field in two
parts. Is the best famous modality about “Pelota Valenciana” because is the
best technical and beautiful to see. It is a modality that you must hit de ball
before it make a second bounce or hit without bounce. During the match, you
used a “vaqueta” ball and only is played in the ball court.
The
equipment is a t-shirt and a short trousers with the colour wait. Both teams
must wear this equipment to play in a match. In addition, we can wear a belt
with the colour blue (local team) and the other the colour red (visitant team)
to differentiate both teams.
All the
teams are composed of three players and a “Feridor”. The person who is “feridor”
makes a throw that allows the ball to fall into the “Dau” and from there begins
the game. Therefore, his only function is throw the ball and from there the
game continues in a normal way. In addition, you can play 1 vs1, 2 vs2, 2 vs 3
and 3 vs 3.
The
regulation ball is the “vaqueta” ball. It will weigh between 40 and 42 gr,
38-40 for under eighteen and under sixteen and will be of “badana” with 27 gr
for youngsters.
This ball
game up string consists of playing the ball trying to pass it on the top of the
central rope, from one team to one, with the condition that the ball doesn’t two bounce before be played.
- The
match begins with a “ferida” of a player that will throw the ball over the line
marked on the wall of the ladder and the intention to put it inside the “dau”.
- Already
the ball inside the “Dau”, the “rest” player hit the ball in the air or with a
bounce. If on the other hand, the ball doesn’t enter the “Dau”, it will be
considered fault.
- If
the player who makes the “dau” returns the ball good, that is, he gets to pass
in to the opposing field by up string, the game begins, exchanging the ball of
each other by means of hits, until one of the two teams get fifteen.
Finally, we
are going to talk about punctuation. The senior team that reaches twelve games
will get three points to general classification. If the losing team that
reaches nine games, will get a point remaining one to the winner.
