Paco Cabanes

Today we are going to talk about the most important character of “Raspall”. He is Francesc Cabanes Pastor (20th of December of 1954). He is known how Paco Cabanes or “El Genovés”. The name “El Genovés” comes from his village because his village is called “Genovés”, a locality from the province of Valencia.

In addition, we can emphasize that he have a wife and a son. His son is Jose Cabanes also known “Genovés II” is his only son. Genovés II play “Raspall” too, but his favourite modality is “Escala y corda” how his father Paco Cabanes. Actually, his son “Genovés II” is married with his wife Susi that has a father that was “pilotari” too.

On the other hand, we will talk about curiosities about him:
For example, he was so good that he was forced to play with his brother who did not know how to play and also, he had to play with his good hand tied, so he could not use it. So and everything won the games.

Also, when Paco Cabanes had forty years, he played against Alvaro (that he was the best professional player in this moment) to collecting money to his granddaughter Empar because she was sick. During the match, there were many people in the ball court and Paco Cabanes won Alvaro. After that, Paco Cabanes didn't play again and officially he retired from the sport.
